Let me fist start off by telling you I hesitated a bit before buying HL. Most of you people think killing, capturing, an fragging is the only way to have fun in FPS's. UT, Q3 are some examples. Sure, they can be fun, but where are those 'sixth sense' from your body that tells you to 'ohhh, I really wanna see what happens next!' That where HL raises the bar. An actual 'You are in the game' feel. HL was the game that after bating it, I held the box and said 'This is something I'm gonna treasure for years...' What makes HL so different from other FPS? The game makes you believe. For anyone who played the game, The part where you push the sample into the experiment, was one of the best moments in gaming life. It makes it feel 'real'. After the new feeling, the next are the puzzles. They are unique, and fun, but sometimes, they'll make you hoppin' mad. But puzzles won't take hours to complete, and isn't a huge part of the game. Such as to beat a gigantic green monster sitting below a test rocket, you can't just simply shoot the thing to death. You must release the test rocket sequence to fry the guy. But first you must turn on the ventilation systems, add power, feed the rocket some gas, and THEN press the 'fire' button. Very inventive. Most of your enemies are aliens and other humans. You'll get a healthy does of weaponry such as grenades, RPG launcher, trip mines, pistols, M16's, some bizarre Alien weaponry, and more. But it's HLs brilliant story that the meat of the game. There are 3 official expansion sets out: TCF, Blue Shift, and Opposing Force. BS, and OP are in the same setting as it was in the original HL, but from different perspectives. Again, brilliant. From a Christian perspective, it's pretty good. But OP has a few swears in it. Sure there's blood and gore, but that's what a good FPS is all about. I can't find anything wrong with this game, except for when your mom sees you turn a harmless scientist into gib soup. And one more reason you should buy this game. The mod community. There are literally HUNDREDS of user-created mods out there. From a multiplayer mod, to a brand new single player mod. They all add more gaming fun. Such as Day Of Defeat, Azure Sheep, Case Closed, Firearms, Action HL, Opera mod, and more.Overall: 92%
Same what PCG gave it!!
